Norwich City defender Callum Doyle said the 6-1 win over Plymouth was the perfect way to end a run of seven games without victory.

The Canaries blew Argyle away at Carrow Road to move up to ninth in the Championship table on Tuesday night.

"The fans were buzzing with that one, as is the team as well," Doyle told ����ý Radio Norfolk.

"It's just what we needed going into the next few games with high confidence now.

"We had loads of chances - that's what we said in the dressing room at half-time. But it was good coming out second half, putting them away and putting the game to bed."

The visitors briefly pulled a goal back to reduce the deficit to 2-1 shortly before half-time after Norwich lost the ball in their own half.

But Doyle said their style of play means mistakes like that may happen sometimes and believes they recovered well to win the game.

"With how we play, there is always going to be a risk of losing the ball on the edge of our box," the Manchester City loanee added.

"But I think after that goal, we sorted it out. We sussed out their press really well and came out in the second half and showed that. It's risky business but it paid off."

Doyle also hopes it will send a message to the rest of the Championship after such an emphatic margin of victory. Norwich host Luton Town at Carrow Road on Saturday.

"I think other teams are going to look at that score now and for us, it's that confidence boost going into next week against Luton, which is really good," Doyle said.
