Truro's Rooney banned for breaching betting rules
Truro City midfielder Dan Rooney has been banned for a month and fined for breaking Football Association rules on placing bets on football.
The 25-year-old admitted charges on 25 June and an independent regulatory commission imposed a ban and fine.
It means Rooney will be unable to play for the National League South club for a month from 10 August when the new season begins.
However he will be able to take part in pre-season friendlies and is able to train with his team-mates while suspended.
FA rules prohibit anyone playing for sides in the top eight tiers of English football from betting on the sport.
"The club have been, and will be, providing support to Dan regarding this case, although all matters arising will remain strictly confidential to protect the player," a Truro City statement read.
