Hull City midfielder Liam Millar will miss the rest of the season after scans showed he has suffered an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury.

The Canada international was forced off after just 13 minutes of the Tigers' 1-1 draw with Burnley on Wednesday.

Hull boss Tim Walter revealed after Saturday's 1-1 draw at Derby County that the 25-year-old had been in tears after his diagnosis.

Millar had become a key part of Walter's side, making 12 appearances in all competitions, after his summer move from Swiss side Basel.

鈥淗e has an ACL, he is out for the whole season," the German coach told 大象传媒 Radio Humberside.

鈥淔or him it鈥檚 so frustrating, and I am so with him. I was so shocked, and so was he.

鈥淚t鈥檚 not about the club, and not about us, it鈥檚 about him and I鈥檓 so sad."

Millar also impressed on loan at Preston North End last season, and Walter said the player had been in tears after his diagnosis.

鈥淚t鈥檚 not easy in this moment but we will give him all the help we can give him," he said. "We鈥檒l support him with all of our energy, but that鈥檚 the situation.

鈥淗e was crying but it鈥檚 a situation you have to understand if you want to play football and get injured. It鈥檚 maybe the most difficult injury you can have."
