Carlisle United owner Tom Piatak says that better results on the pitch are of "utmost importance" as he marks one year in charge of the club.

Piatak's 12 months has seen the club relegated from League One to League Two, with the Cumbrians 23rd and in the relegation zone.

Piatak was present to witness Carlisle's only home win of the season - beating Barrow 1-0 in August - with their other two victories in the league on the road, a situation that urgently needs improvement.

"The improvement on the pitch is of the utmost importance," said the Florida-based owner .

"Rest assured, the ownership group understands this and is pushing forward on all fronts to improve our position, move up the table, and, ultimately, ascend the football pyramid."

Since taking over at Brunton Park 12 months ago, the Piataks have carried out a lot of successful work off the field.

Significant efforts and investment have been made to the ground, training and academy facilities and to improve the matchday experience for fans.

Mike Williamson was brought in as head coach in September to replace Paul Simpson, while Rob Clarkson was recently appointed as the club's sporting director.

All these decisions are part of the American owners' determination to turn Carlisle into a 'regional powerhouse'.
