Wigan Athletic Women have appointed Emmerson Boyce, captain of the men's team's FA Cup-winning side, as their first ever head coach.
Boyce, 44, made 298 appearances for the Latics and led them to a shock win over Manchester City in the 2013 final.
The club announced in March that they were launching a women's team but they are yet to be allocated a league for the forthcoming season.
Boyce has most recently been working for the Barbados Football Association.
"It's exciting and I am delighted to be back. When I heard about the opportunity, I wanted to be part of it,"
"We want to make sure the town is proud of its female team. There's going to be a great community feeling, and it's an exciting time for the town."
