Morecambe boss Derek Adams remains upbeat despite the Shrimps being without a league goal or point this season.

The Scot 鈥 in his third spell in charge at the Mazuma Stadium - has seen his side lose all four League Two games 1-0 to fall to the bottom of the EFL.

They head to Crewe on Saturday off the back of a morale-boosting 2-1 win at League One Wigan in the EFL Trophy on Tuesday.

鈥淲e haven鈥檛 had the points we probably deserved 鈥 all-in-all I am delighted with the progress," Adams told 大象传媒 Radio Lancashire.

The 49-year-old revealed goalkeeper Stuart Moore had been getting specialist training this week after gifting Doncaster and Newport the decisive goals in their last two defeats.

Harry Burgoyne replaced Moore between the posts for Tuesday鈥檚 cup win.

鈥淭hose two have been fighting since the start and will continue to do that," Adams added.

鈥淪tuart鈥檚 working on his feet - getting back to basics and improving. He needs to learn. It doesn鈥檛 just happen, it happens because you have not done well enough.

鈥淵ou can make excuses, and that鈥檚 a problem in life, we all make excuses about something - we have to cut that out and become better.鈥

Morecambe have lost to four of the top five in the fledgling League Two table and Adams said it was a long season.

"The players are positive. We have competed exceptionally well against them," he said.

鈥淭he reason we have been defeated is we have made an error and not taken our chances. It鈥檚 small margins. All-in-all I am delighted with the progress.

鈥淲e will go to Crewe and try and win the game and move ourselves into a better position. As long as we (perform) as we have done, the other side of the game will come along nicely.鈥
