Stockport striker Wootton signs new deal
Stockport County striker Kyle Wootton has signed a new three-year contract with the club.
The 27-year-old has scored 27 goals in 88 appearances for the Hatters, and was a key player as they won the League Two title last season.
After turning down a new contract at Notts County in 2022, Wootton joined Stockport and was leading scorer, as well as the club's player of the year, in his debut season.
He has already scored this season, netting in the opening-day 2-0 win over Cambridge United, as well as claiming two assists, as Stockport hit top spot in League One.
Stockport manager Dave Challinor : "He鈥檚 a huge asset to our squad in terms of what he adds on and off the pitch. He鈥檚 been a model pro in his time with us, and has acted and performed consistently across that period.
鈥淗e鈥檚 started the season really well which hasn鈥檛 been a surprise because internally we know what he brings. An extension to his contract was a conversation started in the off-season about the club protecting assets and we certainly see him as one of those."
Football director Simon Wilson added: 鈥淜yle has started the season very well, but this isn鈥檛 a reaction to that. It鈥檚 a conversation the staff have been having for a while about the attributes Kyle brings and how they are valued at this club."
