Burnley head coach Scott Parker has said he believes the fans are the bedrock of the club ahead of Tuesday's Championship clash with Coventry City.

Parker's side currently sit fourth in the Championship, just two points below the automatic promotion places, and Parker has taken time to emphasise the importance of the club's fans to his players.

鈥淚 often say it to the players at 3pm or 7:45, whatever time that game is, we walk out and cross that line with one sole purpose and that鈥檚 to try and please our fans,鈥 Parker told 大象传媒 Radio Lancashire.

"Football gravitates to everyone - it connects people, it brings people together and I understand with every single bit of it what it means to every fan base."

Over 1,400 Burnley fans were in attendance to see the Clarets' 1-0 win at Bristol City on Saturday- their 10th clean sheet of the Championship season already.

"I understand what it means to every single Burnley fan, the local people, they鈥檙e the bedrock of this club.

"They鈥檙e the mainstays. Managers come and go, players come and go, what always stays and what is always consistent is a fan base," he added.
