Truro City manager John Askey says he has been impressed with the start his side has made to the season.

The Tinners are sixth in National League South, having avoided relegation with three games to spare last season.

The club has returned to Truro after four years playing outside Cornwall while a new ground was constructed.

They have won five and lost three of their nine league games under new boss Askey.

"It's started really well," he told ´óÏó´«Ã½ Radio Cornwall.

"When I came in the main priority was to keep the club up and try and improve things as we go along.

"We've had a decent start, I feel as though every game that we've played in we could've won.

"We've not always come out with the three points, but probably deserved at least three points in every game.

"So, so far, so good, but we know it's a long season and nobody's getting carried away."

Askey, who took over in the summer after Paul Wotton left to manage Torquay United, says the new ground has been important for his side.

Having been forced to play at places such as Plymouth Parkway and Gloucester City, Truro's return home has seen the club average in excess of 1,700 fans a game in the league.

"The players have showed a good attitude and I think they've enjoyed being back at Truro in front of their home supporters," Askey added.

"Everybody knows that we've a good turnout and the atmosphere around the ground has been really good, and I think that's helped as well."
