Match Facts
This is the first ever meeting between Exeter City and Chesterfield in the FA Cup proper, and first in any competition since a 2-1 win for the Grecians in April 2018 (League Two).
Chesterfield have won their last three FA Cup second round ties, with each of these coming in the last three seasons. They’ve never progressed from this round of the competition in four consecutive campaigns before.
Exeter beat Barnet 5-3 in the first round, the first time they’d scored 5+ goals in an FA Cup match (excluding qualifiers) since beating Leatherhead 5-0 in November 1980.
Will Grigg scored a brace in Chesterfield’s 3-1 win over Horsham in the first round. He last scored in consecutive matches in the FA Cup proper in January/February 2018, with his goals back then eliminating Premier League sides West Ham United and Manchester City for Wigan.
