Britain's Max Chilton will get his first run-out at a competitive F1 race weekend when he takes part in Friday practice at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, Marussia have confirmed.

The 21-year-old, who finished fourth in this season's GP2 championship, will replace Charles Pic for the first practice session.

He was promoted to reserve driver prior to last month's Singapore Grand Prix.

"I feel very proud to be entrusted with this opportunity," said Chilton.

"Over the last two race weekends, as reserve driver, I feel like I have a proper role and have learned so much about the Formula 1 environment in a very short space of time.

"This is the next step in the process of proving my potential and another important notch for me personally in terms of my ultimate goals.

"My thanks to everyone at Marussia for the faith they have shown in me so far and I will now concentrate my efforts on keeping my excitement in check and ensuring I make the most of this fantastic opportunity."
