Darren Clarke targets return to Ryder Cup team

  • Published

Darren Clarke has his sights set on a return to the world's top 50 and Europe's Ryder Cup team after his win in the Iberdrola Open on Sunday.

The three-shot win in Mallorca saw the Northern Irishman leap 36 places to 88th in the rankings.

"I feel there is a lot of golf left in me. I need to get the consistency back again," said 42-year-old Clarke.

"I would like to qualify for another Ryder Cup team and another win would take me back into the top 50."

Sunday's success was Clarke's 13th European Tour title win, and his first since the KLM Open in August 2008.

"It was nice to win again but I want to be doing it more frequently," added Clarke.

"My swing is getting better and better. If I can get myself into contention to win, then great, and I can get up the world rankings again."
