Simon Dyson and Marcel Siem share the lead at KLM Open
Vandalism to four greens caused a delayed start and the KLM Open in Hilversum, Netherlands, then suffered a much longer delay because of flooding.
England's Simon Dyson and Germany's Marcel Siem share the lead on five-under par after rounds of 65.
Lee Westwood was even and Rory McIlroy one over when their rounds were brought to a premature end on the eighth.
Defending champion and world number three Martin Kaymer struggled to a four-over par round of 74.
Play was delayed by 45 minutes at the beginning of the day after areas on the fourth, fifth, sixth and ninth holes were dug up overnight.
The affected parts were marked off as ground under repair, allowing players to move balls away when necessary.
"At this moment we do not know who caused the damage. For this evening and the rest of the tournament we have increased security substantially," said championship director Daan Slooter.
"I'm very disappointed for all the people here at the club who worked so hard over the past few days, through challenging weather conditions, to ensure the course was in playable condition."
Two-time champion Dyson, who is seeking his second title of the year following his triumph at the Irish Open in July said: "That's probably the wettest course I've ever played but this tournament is always good to me.
"My best finish on the order of merit is eighth and I'd love to beat that."
England's Robert Dinwiddie, the first player to tee off, had time to complete a four-under-par 66 when the action was halted by a heavy downpour.
That was good enough for second place, one shot ahead of Oliver Wilson, Anders Hansen, David Lynn and Jin Jeong, whose round was halted on the 10th.
