Scottish golfer Richie Ramsay's joint fourth-place finish in the Hong Kong Open sealed his place in the Dubai World Championship.

The top 60 golfers on the European Tour money list qualify for the UAE-based tournament.

And Ramsay is one of three Scots who will be in contention at the Vijay Singh-designed Earth Course.

"I was looking for a good week this week and a bit of momentum going into Race to Dubai and I found it," he said.

"It's been a fantastic week. To shoot four under on a tough course when the wind's been swirling - it was nearly there, it was a few putts during the week that stopped me getting 11 or 12 under.

"The next few days are going to be chilled out and then we'll start the hard work and all the reconnaissance for Dubai.

"With it being my second year I know the course a bit better.

"If I can do the same next week and get in contention it would be a fantastic way to finish the season."

Fellow countryman Scott Jamieson, who was not competing in Hong Kong, had to endure a nervy wait to see if he would qualify.

However, results went the way of the 27-year-old Glaswegian, who finished in 59th place in the money list.

Perhaps significantly, Jamieson played 30 tournaments this year - two more than the two golfers immediately below him in the rankings.

Jamieson said on Twitter: "Managed to hang on for a spot in the Dubai World Championship! Now its time to make it count!"

However, for another Scot, the Race to Dubai ended in disappointment.

Stephen Gallacher endured a horrendous last few holes in Hong Kong, double-bogeying the 16th and bogeying the 17th, ending his hopes of qualifying.

Gallacher missed out on a place in the top 60 by less than €4,000.
