Five birdies on the back nine give Sweden's Henrik Stenson a one-shot lead on 11-under-par heading into the weekend of the Nedbank Golf Challenge.

Stenson, 39, bogeyed the sixth, seventh and eighth, but turned things around to card a second-round 67 in South Africa.

Jaco van Zyl, joint first-round leader with Stenson at Gary Player Country Club in Sun City, shot 68.

England's Ross Fisher is the best-placed Briton in sixth, seven shots behind Stenson on four under.

Chris Wood is a stroke behind compatriot Fisher on three under, but fellow Englishman Danny Willett, who was third overnight, carded a 75 to drop nine places on a two-under halfway total.

Former world number one and two-time Nedbank champion Lee Westwood is back in 28th after shooting a nine-over 81 that included a triple bogey and a double bogey.

Stenson is surprised to be leading having spent most of the early part of the week in bed with flu.

The Ryder Cup player said: "On Wednesday afternoon I didn't think I would be able to tee it up.

"I thought I was done and dusted, so to be leading after two days, it's a turnaround to say the least. But the saying is 'beware of the injured or sick golfer' and I guess that's true."
