Wales hockey player Sarah Jones says Team GB can improve on the bronze medal they won at the at the 2020 Tokyo Games later this year in Paris.

Team GB secured their spot at the 2024 Games by beating Ireland in a bronze medal match at last month's qualifiers in Valencia.

Jones and Katie Robertson put GB 2-0 up before Hannah McLoughlin scored a late consolation for Ireland.

"We're playing better hockey than we were in Tokyo," said midfielder Jones.

"I think we're a more exciting team to watch. I'm feeling positive and hopefully we can go one or two better than in Tokyo."

Jones, who is preparing for her second Olympic games with Team GB said she is feeling more confident this time around.

"I certainly feel like a more experienced member of the team now," said Jones.

"I've had quite a few injuries over the last few years, which no one wants, but I've learnt quite a lot about myself in that time.

"When you take a step back, you get to appreciate how lucky you are to play hockey as your job every day.

"I'm certainly more confident than I was for Tokyo."

Jones was speaking at a Hockey Wales event in Cardiff, set up to encourage more young people to take up the sport.

"I'm really passionate to see Wales represented in the Great Britain hockey set up," said Jones.

"Within the men's and women's squads and within the age groups, I see some real potential."

"I'm hopeful we'll have some more GB representation in the future."
