    Nigeria 1-0 Cameroon

Stanley Nwabali is making a point vigorously to someone.

There's no missing the Nigeria goalkeeper, who's wearing a striking pink-ish shirt.

Nigeria then win a free-kick in a promising position on the left flank at the other end following a foul on Victor Osimhen.

Cameroon will have to come out a bit more and be creative.

It wasn't good enough in that first half and they've started this second half on the back foot.

Their team talk must have been around doing more in the final third.

  3. KICK-OFFpublished at 21:07 Greenwich Mean Time 27 January

    Nigeria 0-0 Cameroon

Nigeria have both played in (40) and won (22) more matches in the knockout stages of this competition than any other nation.

They're back out on the pitch - as are Cameroon, who restart this last-16 match.

Well, that was a thoroughly enjoyable half of football.

Nestled by the serene waters of Abidjan’s lagoon, this small but beautifully proportioned stadium was anything but calm – creating the best atmosphere I have experienced at this tournament so far.

Nigeria have looked dominant, while Cameroon boss Rigobert Song looked distinctly unimpressed as he headed down the tunnel at half-time.

What kind of rescue plan does he have up his sleeve?

Cameroon coach Rigobert Song played at a joint-record eight Africa Cup of Nations finals.

He was part of the Indomitable Lions side which beat Nigeria on penalties after a 2-2 draw in the 2000 final.

Can Song find a way to inspire his players at the break?

The goal was great vision by Osimhen. He's always in the right areas.

Lookman had the easy task of just hitting the target. It squirmed under Ondoa and found the net.

Nigeria lead through Ademola Lookman's strike after good work from Victor Osimhen.

The Super Eagles would have been ahead by then but for Semi Ajayi's stabbed finish following uncertain goalkeeping being ruled out by an offside check.

Cameroon know better than most how quickly games can change at these finals - but they'll almost certainly need to have their first shot on target during the second half if they're going to mount a comeback.

Don't forget that the winners will meet Angola in the quarter-finals on Friday (17:00 GMT). You can read our report from their win over Namibia here.

Fabrice Ondoa claims a cross in what could be the last penalty area action of the half.

The Cameroon goalkeeper will probably be glad to take a breather after a torrid 45 minutes when he was at fault for a disallowed goal and perhaps should have saved a valid one.

Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa, Frank Magri and Georges-Kevin N'Koudou combine neatly in a slick passage of Cameroon passing, working the ball from left to right.

William Troost-Ekong, who's been excellent in this half, heads the ball clear.

Things have got a bit heated since the goal.

First we had Cameroon substitute Vincent Aboubakar racing to the edge of the technical area to confront Ola Aina as he prepared to take a throw-in, although it was unclear exactly what he was unhappy about.

Then Tolo Nouhou got a stern telling off from the referee for his response to a challenge from Frank Onyeka, giving the Brentford and Nigeria midfielder an uninvited chest bump.

The crowd is lapping it up.

GOAL: Nigeria 1-0 Cameroonpublished at 36 mins

    Ademola Lookman

As dangerous as it might be to say it with VAR always watching, this one will almost certainly count.

Victor Osimhen shows strength and alertness to win possession off Oumar Gonzalez just outside the penalty area, then demonstrates his vision to pick out Ademola Lookman with a diagonal ball to the right of the penalty area.

The recipient's shot squirms in via Fabrice Ondoa's gloves. Neither Gonzalez nor Ondoa will be in a hurry to watch this one again.

Other than the disallowed goal, we have not had too much in the way of goalmouth action here in Abidjan.

But there is still a cracking atmosphere inside this stadium, which is not far off capacity, with the relentless beat of Cameroonian drums and the blare of Nigerian horns.

As the cooling break arrives both sets of players get a warm round of applause.

Now, can someone keep their cool and find us a goal?
