  1. All you need to know about the Formula E Race at Home challenge

    What is it?

    The Race at Home challenge is a eight-week competition, ending in a Grand Final on 7 June, involving the normal Formula E teams and drivers.

    How does it work?

    The 24 drivers will race against one another using software that includes the latest generation Formula E car, up-to-date liveries of all the teams and iconic street tracks such as Hong Kong and Monaco.

    Races will start with a competitive one-lap qualifying system to determine the order of the grid and once the race begins, the last-placed driver at the end of each lap will be eliminated, after the first two laps/

    Elimination will continue until 12 drivers remain, where a two-lap sprint to the finish line will decide the point-scoring positions. Drivers will carry over their points to the following weekend.

    The scoring system is also the same as in real life with drivers earning extra points for pole position and the fastest lap. There will also be double points on offer in the final race.

    Before Covid-19 brought racing to a grinding halt in the sixth season of Formula E at the end of February with just five races completed, the story of the season had been, yet again, the continuing trend of a different driver winning every race.

    Last season, nine different drivers won the 13 E-Prix, and this season鈥榮 five races have seen five different drivers on the top step of the podium.

    Both of the new teams in the pack, Mercedes and Porsche, got off to a flying start with top-three finishes at the opening race in Saudi Arabia, Mercedes following that up with a second trip to the podium in the second race at the same track.

    BMW鈥檚 Alexander Sims was the winner of the second race and BMW took another win at race three in Chile with Max Guenther taking the honours. Jaguar鈥檚 Mitch Evans was the winner in Mexico before Morocco proved fertile ground for Techeetah鈥檚 Antonio Felix da Costa, who moved to the top of the standings ahead of Evans with a win.

    Techeetah and BMW are top of the team standings, with the former having an eight-point advantage that could come in useful if further races are removed from the calendar as the worldwide lockdown continues.
