Manx Grand Prix racer excluded after drugs test

A competitor has been excluded from the 2024 Manx Grand Prix after a drugs test, the event鈥檚 organisers have said.
A statement issued by ACU Events Ltd said Alex Sinclair had 鈥渞eturned a non-negative test result for a recreational drug鈥 in a random test carried out as part of the meeting鈥檚 drug and alcohol screening protocols.
The 35-year-old from Pontygwaith in Wales had been 鈥渆xcluded from the event with immediate effect鈥, it said.
A regular competitor since 2012, Sinclair had been due to compete in the Junior, Classic Junior and Classic Senior races.
The statement by organisers said the matter will be passed to the Auto-Cycle Union (ACU), the national governing body for motorcycle sport in Great Britain, excluding Northern Ireland.
鈥淪anctions for competitors caught doping can be a ban from ACU competitions for a minimum of two years,鈥 it said.
鈥淭he Manx Grand Prix Races and ACU share a strict zero-tolerance policy for the presence of drugs and alcohol for officials and competitors during an event period.鈥
