Welsh Feathers beat Zimbabwe 62-41 to take series win

Welsh Feathers took a clean sweep in their two-match series against Zimbabwe as they defeated the Gems 62-41 in the second test in Cardiff.
Wales took an early five-goal lead to finish the first quarter 18-13 ahead, despite losing vice captain and shooter Phillipa Yarrington midway through the quarter to injury.
Some superb defensive work from goal keeper Leah Middleton and unforced errors from Zimbabwe centre Anifa Luya allowed the Welsh Feathers to extend their advantage, as they went into the half time break 32-23 in front.
Despite their best efforts, the Gems failed to claw back the deficit in the final two quarters as the Welsh Feathers continued to pile on the pressure and convert their goals to secure the victory and a decisive 2-0 test series win having won 50-42 in the opener.
Both sides return to action on Thursday, 7 November when they take part in the inaugural Celtic Cup in Glasgow, where they鈥檒l face Scotland and Northern Ireland.
Post-match reaction
Player of the series Vicky Booth told 大象传媒 Sport Wales:
鈥淚 feel amazing right now. I couldn鈥檛 have asked for anything more. I came into this with no expectations whatsoever, I didn鈥檛 even expect to get court time, so I鈥檓 over the moon with how it鈥檚 gone.
鈥淭he two wins on the trot is really important for us. We鈥檝e come off a long block of training so it was good to get on court this weekend.
鈥淚t鈥檒l be really good to get up there and back on court [in Glasgow for the inaugural Celtic Cup]. This was a bit of prep for us, so it鈥檒l be really interesting to see how we go against two or three very different teams, especially Scotland.鈥
