Glenn Irwin won the final British Superbike race of the weekend at Snetterton to further extend his lead at the top of the championship.

The Northern Ireland man finished 1.138 seconds ahead of Tommy Bridewell for his first race win of the series.

The Honda Racing rider, who had finished second in Sunday's first race, is now 23 points ahead of second-placed Bridewell in the overall standings.

Glenn's brother Andrew, who had crashed out earlier in the day, came eighth.

That earned him eight points and means he is sitting in sixth position in the standings, with Christian Iddon in third, Josh Brookes fourth and Jason O'Halloran fifth.

Glenn overtook Iddon to go second at the start of lap nine and then went past Bridewell to seize the lead a lap later, before going on to claim his first race win of the season at the sixth attempt.

In Sunday's first race at Snetterton, Glenn was 0.49 seconds behind race winner Josh Brookes, with Bridewell third, with Andrew exiting on the 14th of 16 laps after a coming together with Ryan Vickers.

Glenn was fourth on the opening race of the weekend on Saturday, which was won by Christian Iddon, with Andrew crashing out on the opening lap.

The series leader was in front at the start of Sunday's first race but was overtaken by Brookes on third lap and the Australian maintained his lead throughout.

"It was a really fun race, Josh was setting a good pace and it was good to sit behind him and study," Honda Racing's Glenn Irwin told Eurosport.

"I felt like a had the upper-hand in the last six laps and showed my hand in one of the corners. We had a game plan but with a few laps to go I started to run out of fuel."

Andrew Irwin, who was disqualified as part of his sanction for an incident in race three at Donington earlier this month, rode round the outside of Vickers around Coram Curve only to cut across the Kawasaki rider as they braked for the chicane, with both riders crashing out.

In the British Supersport, Lee Johnston took third place in Saturday's sprint race and Sunday's feature race, while Korie McGreevy improved his seventh place on Saturday to fourth on Sunday. Ross Patterson was eighth on Sunday.

In the Superstock 600s, Rhys Irwin was third, Simon Reid came sixth and Adam McClean finished seventh, while teenager Cameron Dawson was fifth in Saturday's Junior Supersport event.
