Super League Leeds Rhinos have signed Huddersfield Giants prop Darrell Griffin for an undisclosed fee.

The England international, 30, who joins on a three-year deal, follows the signing of .

"I met with a number of clubs, " said Griffin, "but, once I became aware of Leeds' interest in me, there was only one club I wanted to join.

"I know I will have to work hard to earn my place in the squad."

Griffin, who was born in Oxford and got his first professional chance at London Broncos, added: "Leeds have four great props who played in the Grand Final, plus youngsters like Luke Ambler and Brad Singleton - and Richard Moore coming in with me.

"That should lead to good competition for places in the team."

Leeds coach Brian McDermott said: "Darrell is a great addition to our squad for next season. He is a player who I admire and has shown at Huddersfield that he is a hard-running prop, who never takes a backward step.

"I think he will thrive in our environment and training regime and I am looking forward to seeing him play for Leeds.

"I know first-hand the challenges that players from outside of the heartland of the game face.

"They have to show incredible determination just to get to play the professional game and Darrell has not only come through that but gone on to represent his country.

"I am sure his best years are still ahead of him and I look forward to working with him."
