Salford Red Devils have appointed assistant coach Kurt Haggerty to become their head coach in 2026 when current boss Paul Rowley moves into the role of director of rugby after next season.

The Super League club announced earlier this week that Rowley would lead the Red Devils next term before beginning his new role from November 2025.

Haggerty, 35, has worked alongside Rowley at Leigh as a player and Toronto as a coach.

鈥淲hen I joined the club back in 2022, there was a clear strategy, vision and legacy being implemented for the future of the club," he said.

鈥淚t鈥檚 great to see the club moving in the right direction and it鈥檚 a very exciting time to be a part of the organisation."

Rowley, 49, took charge of Salford in 2022 and has overseen an impressive three seasons during his tenure.

In his first season Rowley reached the play-offs and the former Leigh and Toronto Wolfpack boss also led the club to a fourth-placed finish this term before they were defeated by Leigh in the play-off eliminator.

Haggerty, who played for Leigh, Widnes and Bradford during his playing career, previously took charge of Leigh on an interim basis during the 2021 Super League season.
