Hull KR head coach Willie Peters has signed a new four-year contract that will keep him at the club until the end of the 2028 season.

Peters was initially chosen to replace Tony Smith in May 2022.

Last year, in his first season in charge, he led the Robins to the Challenge Cup final and a top-four spot in Super League.

They are fifth in a tight table this season and face Wigan Warriors in the Challenge Cup semi-final on Saturday.

"With what we鈥檙e doing on and off the field at Hull KR it鈥檚 an exciting opportunity," he said.

The Australian took over a side that had finished eighth in 2022 and moved them four spots up the table.

They reached a first cup final for eight years, only to lose to Leigh Leopards in extra time.

But Peters is convinced the Robins are heading in the right direction.

"The goal that I had and what I continue to have is make our community proud, for the team to make the community proud and that鈥檚 not just on field, but off it too," he told

"Once you鈥檝e got everyone sharing the same vision, great things happen off the back of that."

That view is shared by the club's hierarchy with chief executive Paul Lakin fully supportive of Peters.

"Willie, his excellent coaching and leadership of his back room support staff have instilled a DNA that we expect to continue to grow, and enable us to meet our aspirations," he said.

鈥業t goes without saying therefore that we are delighted to extend Willie's contract through to 2028."
