Wigan Warriors captain Liam Farrell will be out of action for "at least" two weeks after a scan revealed a "low grade" calf injury.

Second-row Farrell, 34, was left out of the team to face St Helens at Magic Weekend in a late change, and is also ruled out of Sunday's home Super League game against Hull FC.

Wigan coach Matt Peet also revealed that utility man Ryan Hampshire, who was injured the previous week in the defeat by Leeds Rhinos, is likely to miss the rest of the season with a broken arm.

“Liam had a scan on Monday after pulling out of the game with his calf - he has a low grade pull on his calf so he'll be out for a couple of weeks at least," Peet said.

"Ryan Hampshire also had an X-ray following the Leeds game - he's suffered a fracture on his arm so we're looking upwards of a couple of months for Ryan."
