Nottingham win over Bristol sets standard - Martin Haag

Nottingham director of rugby Martin Haag says Sunday's has set the standard for the rest of the season.

The Green & Whites ran in nine tries in an awesome display which takes them up to second in the Championship table.

"We played outstandingly well," Haag said. "Can we play better? Maybe not better, but consistently hitting that standard is the important thing.

"The important thing is we don't rest on our laurels, we must keep pushing."

Brent Wilson and Rhys Crane both scored two tries in the victory, which means Nottingham have won four out of five in the league and are now eight points behind leaders Newcastle, who they face on Friday night.

Haag added: "For large periods of the game we dominated and when we didn't have the ball we were very, very strong.

"There was only one missed tackle when there were 13 last week against Plymouth and those are the things that we talk about improving on all the time.

"If you look at some of the games that we have played previously, we have been in the opposition 22 a lot of time and not had that success rate.

"That success comes from bits and piece you do in the lead up. I thought we put Bristol under pressure with our play, we had quicker line-outs, we had quick plays around the corner from set-pieces and they gave away penalties and gave us territory.

"You just don't get into those positions, you have to work hard. And when we were there we were clinical.

"We have a short turnaround now for Newcastle who we face as underdogs, but if we perform like this again we give ourselves a chance."
