Wales prop Rob Evans made his return from a neck injury playing 40 minutes in the Scarlets' 36-10 friendly win over Dragons at Rodney Parade.

Evans last played for Wales in the Six Nations defeat against England at Twickenham in March 2020.

He was part of a dominant scrum which helped the Scarlets to a 15-0 interval lead.

Both sides used a wide range of squad players before their coming Pro14 games without their current internationals.

Evans came close to scoring early on but saw his front-row colleagues Javan Sebastian and Marc Jones cross from short range in the first half.

"It's great to see him back, he (Evans) has a wealth of experience so he did stand out," said former Scarlets and Wales wing Garan Evans.

"The Scarlets looked comfortable on their own ball and put the Dragons under pressure."

Replacement half-backs Will Homer (2) and Sam Costelow crossed in the third quarter, with Angus O'Brien adding seven points and Costelow two conversions to the visitors' tally.

Wing Jared Rosser got the Dragons' reply with an opportunist kick and chase after returning from a yellow card, sub fly-half Will Reed landing a conversion and penalty.

Dragons, who also had prop Lloyd Fairbrother sin-binned, lost fly-half Josh Lewis to an early injury while Dafydd Howells limped off in the second half.
