Scotland second-row Scott Cummings says it was an "easy decision" to sign a new contract with Glasgow Warriors despite recent high-profile departures.

Adam Hastings is the latest international to commit to leaving Scotstoun, following the likes of Finn Russell, Stuart Hogg, and Jonny Gray.

But Cummings, now an integral figure for club and country, says player exits did not influence his decision.

"I didn't really think about [the guys who have left] to be honest," he said.

"It was last year that Hoggy left and this year it was Jonny, while Adam is still here right now. Everyone talks about Finn but that's two years ago now.

"So it's only really one big player a year that has left - but new players have come in and you have to build your new team around the guys you have."

Glasgow have had a disappointing first half of the season under new head coach Danny Wilson, with the squad decimated by an extended international window.

They have won just two games all season, but Cummings, who has played in Scotland's last 17 Tests, believes there is more to come.

"I still believe we have got great quality and can push on," he said.

"I think we've got a great squad here and a very good team with the ability to push on from where we are.

"We know we're not where we want to be at the moment but we definitely have the potential to get back to where we were."
