Allianz Cup: Bristol Bears enjoy big win over Leicester Tigers
- Published
Grace Crompton's hat-trick helped Bristol Bears thrash Leicester Tigers 55-3 to stay top of Allianz Cup Pool A.
Dave Ward's side dominated the game throughout, restricting the Tigers to just a single penalty.
Bristol lead the pool on points difference ahead of Worcester Warriors, who beat Sale Sharks 49-14.
There were away wins in both Pool B games as Loughborough Lightning beat Harlequins 38-29 and Gloucester-Hartpury won 29-24 at Trailfinders.
Bristol Bears made it two wins out of two, with first-half tries from Claire Molloy, Jenny Hesketh and Reneeqa Bonner added to by Jess Sprague, Millie David and Delaney Burns in the second period, before Crompton's third rounded off the scoring.
Just three points separated Worcester and Sale at half-time but tries from Amelia Buckland-Hurry and Evie England, and Vicky Laflin's hat-trick enabled the hosts to pull away in the closing stages.
Loughborough picked up their first victory of the campaign, with Megan Davey and Bo Westcombe-Evans both scoring twice to help their team triumph at The Stoop, with Shaunagh Brown's treble not enough for Quins.
Trailfinders were defeated in their first home game in elite women's rugby as Gloucester-Hartpury's five tries were enough for them to claim a second win in as many games.
