Jonny Brownlee says he can do more than "go to Paris just to get the kit" as he looks to win a fourth Olympic triathlon medal at next summer's Games in Paris.
Brownlee, 33, will compete in his first World Triathlon Championship Series race this year in Cagliari on Saturday.
Brownlee won relay gold at the Tokyo Olympics to add to his bronze and silver medals in 2012 and 2016.
"I thought I was going to stop the Olympics stuff after Tokyo," he said.

"I didn't expect to be in this position. I thought I was going into the long-distance stuff, but I really think I can be competitive.
"My training has gone well in the last few weeks and I only want to go to Paris if I genuinely can be a medal contender. I don't want to go to Paris just to get the kit."
Brownlee, the 2012 world champion, has overcome challenging injuries to return to full fitness as he seeks vital points in his bid to qualify for next summer's Games.
A broken elbow was followed by a fractured wrist from a bike crash during a World Triathlon Championship Series event in his home city of Leeds last summer, ruling him out of the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
"My body is all good now," he said. "I have had a couple of niggles over the winter, but they are healed now and I am ready to go."
