Georgia Taylor-Brown won the London event of the Supertri League after a thrilling sprint finish against Olympic champion Cassandre Beaugrand.

The British star, 30, held off France's Beaugrand, who launched an attack in the final few metres of the last running stage, to clock a time of 49 minutes 59 seconds.

Jeanne Lehair, who won in London last year, had an impressive race to finish third following an earlier bike crash.

In the men's event, New Zealand's Hayden Wilde won with a time of 44:54 while GB's Alex Yee finished 12th.

The win for Taylor-Brown, who finished sixth in the individual race at the Paris Olympics, was her second victory of the 2024 league after she also claimed gold in Chicago in August.

"I looked back and I thought I was safe and then I heard the crowd get louder and I thought 'something is happening here'," Taylor-Brown said. "She [Beaugrand] was right there so I had to get a sprint on.

"That was really, really hard. It gets to a point mid-race where you think 'I don't think I can push any more'. Somehow on that last run you find a little bit extra."

The result means Taylor-Brown leads the rankings with two legs of the league to go.

In the men's event, Australia's Matt Hauser was second and Leo Bergere, of France, came third.

It was Wilde's third win in London after also being victorious in 2021 and 2022.

Yee, who won Olympic gold this summer, applauded the crowd and high-fived many supporters as he came across the line.

"Not my day," Yee said. "Today was never about me racing well, it was about me coming and appreciating everyone who came out here.

"Racing well would have been a bonus and unfortunately the first triathlon I felt good and the second run I had some heart irregularities I think. I was struggling a little bit - but that is racing.

"I am mentally tired, I can't lie. I am enjoying what I am doing but I am also trying to give back to everyone and try and race my best. It has been tough but I am going to do my best and keep enjoying the sport."
