Muirhead's rink slipped to an 11-4 defeat to the Olympic champions

Hosts Sweden inflicted a first loss on Eve Muirhead's Scotland rink at the European Curling Championships with an 11-4 win in Helsingborg.

Having beaten reigning world and European champions Switzerland earlier in the day, Scotland led the Olympic champions 4-3 after six tense ends.

But the Swedes scored four in each of the final two ends to run out comfortable winners.

The Scots stay joint first in the standings after five matches.

Up next for Muirhead and her team is Germany in Tuesday's afternoon session.

Meanwhile, Scotland's men were edged out 6-5 by Denmark having earlier comfortably beaten the Netherlands 9-3.

Ross Paterson's team slip to joint third in the round-robin standings, having lost two of their five matches with ties against Germany and England to follow on Tuesday.

Andrew Reed's English rink lost to both Sweden and Switzerland and are joint bottom with just one victory so far.
