Do you fancy becoming the next Chris Hoy or Victoria Pendleton? Newcastle Track Cycling Association is a local club which has its own velodrome track, find out how to get involved here...

Track cycling is now the second fastest growing sport in the country according to Sport England. It says the success of cyclists such as Chris Hoy and Victoria Pendleton at both the Olympics and World championships, has increased its popularity.

North Staffordshire's Newcastle Track Cycling Association is growing along with the sports itself. It has a busy racing calendar from May through to the end of August at its track at the Lyme Valley Velodrome.

It’s considered to be the fastest and best outdoor track in the country and has been used by the British Olympic team for training. The track was re-surfaced in 2004 and thanks to a lottery grant of almost £250,000, it now has new fencing.

The club offers a range of sessions for all ages – from under 10’s to seniors. Cycle hire is available and training sessions are usually held on Monday and Tuesday evenings.
