To fit chest 18 cms (7鈥)
Approx. Length 20 cms (8鈥)
Tension 28 sts and 36 rows = 10 cms (4鈥) Special abbreviations: M1p Make one by picking up the loop between the stitches and purling into the back of it. M2 Make two by picking up the loop between the stitches and knitting into the back of it, twice. Begin at the neck edge and cast on 28 stitches loosely.
Row 1: Knit.
Row 2: K2, *k1, yfwd, k2tog, repeat from * to last 2 sts, k2.
Row 3: Knit.
Row 4: K5, m2, k4, m2, k10, m2, k4, m2, k5. (36 sts)
Row 5: K3, purl to last 3 sts, k3.
Row 6: K6, m2, k6, m2, k12, m2, k6, m2, k6 (44 sts)
Row 7: K3, purl to last 3 sts, k3.
Continue working increases as set until there are 84 sts on the needle, finishing with a purl row. Row 19: K12, [yfwd, k2tog] 9 times, k24, [k2tog, yfwd] 9 times, k12.
Row 20: K3, p9, k18, p24, k18 p9, k3.
Row 21: K12, cast off 18, k23, cast off 18, k to end. [48 sts]
Row 22: Knit.
Row 23: K4, yfwd, k2tog, * k1, yfwd, k2tog, repeat from * to last 3 stitches, k3.
Rows 24 and 25: Knit.
Row 26: K3, p1, m1p (p1, m1p) to last 4 sts, p1, k3. (89 sts)
Row 27: Knit.
Row 28: K3, p83, k3. Repeat these last 2 rows until skirt measures 5鈥, ending with a knit row. (Approx. 47 rows)
Knit one row.
Next row: K4, *yfwd, k2tog, rep from * to last 3 sts, k3.
Knit one row.
Cast off. Thread 35 cms (14鈥) of ribbon through the eyelet holes at the neck edge. Thread the remaining ribbon through the eyelet holes at the waist.
If desired, 45 cms (18鈥) of ribbon may be threaded through the eyelet holes at the lower edge to allow it to be gathered. Variations: A small pattern can be used on the skirt but please avoid lacy patterns unless you are going to line it.
A ribbon rose or other embellishment may be added.
White is the preferred colour but other pastels could be used. |
