HumourYou are in: Stoke & Staffordshire > Inside Lives > Humour > Lucky man Lucky manBy contributor Rob Mayor We're lucky if we manage to narrowly escape danger just once in our lives, but if Rob were a cat, he'd have used up all of his nine lives. I'm a Broadcast Journalism student at Staffordshire University. I'm 20-years-old and originally from Somerset. My story is just about being lucky!
Audio and Video links on this page require Realplayer Inside Lives was really good fun! I have learnt a lot about the people I worked with. I really enjoyed the editing and recording session. Transcript:Who knows how I didn't get hit by that bus in Paris. How I survived falling off my mate moped when I was 13. When I dropped 20 ft out of the sky whilst learning to paraglide, I didn't even have a bruise. I've been pretty lucky really, always getting the rub of the green. I've never broken a bone in my life, yet in the first six weeks after I passed my driving test, I narrowly escaped death by heavy goods vehicle more times than I care to remember. I guess I like to live a little dangerously - take a risk here and there. My dad says I'm so laid back, I'm horizontal and he's got a point. I'm just don't worry about these things. Staggering home from the pub the other night, along the canal, I'm amazed I didn't fall in and drown, but I didn't - I got away with it. No worries. Result. I get away with lots of things. Back home in Somerset, you rarely see a police car. But then this one time, I was on someone's roof trying to steal a giant inflatable Santa, when the whole of Avon and Somerset Constabulary drove past. Somehow, they didn't see me. Sadly my friends and family have never been so lucky. The people close to me have been no strangers to illness, injury or death in the last few years. So, in an indirect way, I've been touched by all these things too. It just never seems to happen to me personally. So my next stunt - what should it be? I'm not sure, but I want something spectacular, something wild and preferably something that doesn't hurt too much. last updated: 10/07/07 SEE ALSOYou are in: Stoke & Staffordshire > Inside Lives > Humour > Lucky man
