Here is our first story - from a Robbie fan in Dorset.

Having always been a music fan and liking most groups at some time for a while, then moving on to another up-and-coming one new to the scene (depending which guy was the one I had the crush on), I however was still a typical�� Girl and��got bored quickly - my object of affection changing as much as my fashion sense.

But then I heard "Come Undone" on Top Of The Pops and saw the video of Robbie on a beach with a white dress shirt blowing in the wind.
Something happened then.

Having liked and always been an avid Durannie for a very long time, and namely Simon Le Bon my main no 1, suddenly everything had changed.
I still have a deep fondness for The Durannies and of course Simon who I had been fortunate to meet several times. But from then after seeing "Come Undone", and Simon having been a Married Man etc etc, it seemed more intriguing to see how all things Robbie panned out.

Rob in the flesh

That was some time ago, but at the time there were many more opportunities to see Robbie live.
Having always been into dancing I love music progs where you had the audience dancing, like, as mentioned before, the faithful old Top Of The Pops, and also another one called CDUK, hosted by the glam Cat Deeley.

I loved going to CDUK. It was a very small unobtrusive little TV studio by the river in Hammersmith, London.
The audience was very rarely more than 200 (if that) and you were all a part of the whole show, the stages were right in front of you and you were actually dancing alongside the Pop Stars. All the big names did CDUK though and it was a very intimate close-up show and you could easily meet the Stars. It was also an easy and non threatening environment for The Artists, so they were at ease as well.

CDUK is where I met The Robster first. We had all been on live Sat morning TV and Robbie was said to be coming after transmission to record some songs and an interview with Cat Deeley for some future progs.

Here comes Robbie

Sure enough Robbie came in with David Enthoven and some security and sang Misunderstood a couple of times on one stage.��
Then in between doing this he was chatting to the audience as well and this is what very much impressed me first of all.

He recognised these girls at the front of the stage from about ten years before when they were Take That fans and used to see Robbie and the other four Tatters at this Manchester Hotel where they stayed. He knew names and personal details and all manner of things about these girls and others who were not even there at the time.

I was so taken aback – especially after how you hear about all his negative times in his past when he had the addiction probs with drink/drugs etc - that I would not have thought of him as able or inclined in character to bother to remember normal peeps and situations from ten years ago.

He was very tuned in and switched on, and very aware of all things and cared about people who supported him and his career.

A fan moment

As he came off stage for a while to go backstage I went to tap him on the shoulder to ask if he had received a gift I had sent him.��

He turned around and just held my hand.

Now, I realise this is very insignificant to many but I was very surprised and totally knocked off guard.�� He obviously thought I was trying to touch him as we girls do when we get star struck and soppy - but I assure you I had not been doing that. I was aiming for his shoulder to get his attention.

This also showed me how caring, genuine and sensitive he is to others’ feelings. He had no need to do this and I had heard how he could be very moody and mickey-take you or ignore you if he felt that way.
I am no glam LA Starlet but he made this very kind and endearing gesture and was so normal and easy to talk to and if anyone questions if he is heterosexual I can tell you this, he loves women of all types.

It just seemed funny calling him "Robbie" as he is so much more a "Rob" but you do not presume to call them any other than their Pro name on the first meeting.

He came back onto the other stage and performed Radio a couple of times then did the interview with Cat Deeley, he was in such a good mood flirting with Cat and the audience that he stayed much longer than planned; and he was mucking about saying how he was going grey and taking questions from the audience, and the atmosphere was so laid back everyone including me felt very daring and able to speak free and at ease, too much so in my case.
Me being me, possessive of nature, I said to him s`thing to the effect of "What was going on with him and the women from Nip and Tuck?" when he was saying how single he was etc etc.�� I then realised how bad it had sounded and hoped he had not heard it but he had, try as hard as I could to let him carry on and ignore what I had said.

I looked at the floor the other way and anything in the hopes he would be distracted and move on but he just would not let me off until I had to repeat what I had asked, by this time everyone was tuned in and I managed to make it sound a bit better by calling the girl in question, "The lady in Nip and Tuck”.
Luckily enough he was thinking it funny and made it sound worse and saying "The Nip and Tuck women”.�� He then said how he had just gone shopping with her and not even touched her bum or whatever!�� (The lady in question whose name I could not think of at that time was a very pretty actress called "Valerie Cruz" who starred in "Nip and Tuck".)

Robbie forever

Well that’s the basics of how I became a supporter of anything Robbie and even now, though I do get a bit cheesed off when he does not come back to England much, I always come back on his side, esp as now I know we have so much more in common, in things like weaknesses, upbringing and ways of thinking.
Hence I always will champion his cause whenever needs be.

They say first impressions count. To me he made me like him as "Robert" the person then, not the egocentric” Robbie Williams”, which is how he makes his money of course.
I am a very intuitive person I like to think and am very tuned in to People’s real personalities, a lot due to studying Drama maybe.
I never gave him much of a good impression of myself though I think, as I looked a right tart (looking back on it) in this short St Trinian's type mini-skirt with a fringed tassel top of sorts and high heels!

Anyway I hope some of you are still awake - and will also send in your memories of meeting Robbie!
