It's spring but still frosty biting cold at 5am in the Staffordshire Moorlands. Nothing out of the ordinary for Jarrod Sneyd, who regularly gets up in the middle of the night to roam the areas of land at Coombes Valley Nature Reserve listening out for changes in bird song. Sometimes Jarrod can hide in the valley, enveloped in layers of shrubbery, shut his eyes and listen to the stirring sounds of the dawn chorus. Something that does concern Jarrod is the decline in woodland bird species over the decades. He's working in the reserve to create a natural habitat that'll encourage and protect both migrant and local populations. last updated: 29/04/2008 at 14:41 You are in: Stoke & Staffordshire > Video Nation > Staffordshire Sunrise |
