Stories from Walton Priory

Students from Walton Priory Middle School in Stone have been working with 大象传媒 Radio Stoke's Schools Co-Ordinator, Dave Hamer, to produce their own pieces for radio.

As part of a joint project between 大象传媒 Radio Stoke and Creative Partnerships, different schools from North Staffordshire had their chance to make stories for radio.

Students from Walton Priory Middle School in Stone produced the following pieces for broadcast on 大象传媒 Radio Stoke...

Alice

Environment

Does all the talk of the environment or global warming seem like someone else's problem? We know that the rainforests are shrinking, and there's a huge hole in the ozone layer, but how does it affect us round here?

As part of our 大象传媒 Radio Stoke Schools Project, Alice took her teacher to a local meadow and asked if it's important to look after our local environment too...

Evie

Music

Do you remember Name That Tune? Well, keen musician Evie took advantage of the music department to record her favourite piece of music on three different instruments.

Recording them one at a time into a computer, she's hoping you might be able to guess what that piece of music is...

Jenny

Creation

Have you ever found yourself discussing 'the meaning of life' or 'why we are here' with your friends?

Well Jenny has her own take on the subject and decided to put it into words...

Jude

Boxer

What is your opinion of dogs? Some people love them and others would rather stay well away.

Some dogs have a worse reputation than others and Jude reckons her dog 'Dewey' gets a bad rap he doesn't deserve. She took him for a walk and the chance to defend his honour...

Lara

Canoeing

When was the last time you spent an afternoon messing about on the river?

Walton Priory Middle School pupil Lara loves canoeing and does it whenever she can - come rain or shine...

Lewis

Drawing

If you could have one talent, what would it be? Something that (if you'd had the time) you could be really good at. Most of us dreamed when we were young of excelling in something - but life has a habit of getting in the way.

Lewis has a hobby that he hopes can become something more...

Will and Ryan

Wii

Have you ever had a go on the Nintendo Wii? It's just like other games consoles but is controlled by moving your body instead of sitting with a joystick.

Will has one and wants to convince his friend Ryan that it's just like 'real' exercise. But first he's got to teach him how to play...

Maria

Friends

Who is your oldest and closest friend? Are you still in touch with your schoolmates or have you drifted apart?

As part of our 大象传媒 Radio Stoke Schools Project, Maria wanted to say why her friends are so important...

Ryan

Poem

Poetry isn't everyone鈥檚 cup-of-tea and you might expect a 13 year old boy to have even less interest than most people.

But for Ryan, it's become his favourite hobby - and he doesn't get teased about it either! In fact his poems are causing quite a stir among his classmates. He's decided to share some of his poetry...

Shauna

Thinker

Can you be a little absent minded? Every family has one - the uncle that you have to repeat things to endlessly or the teenager who seems to live in a different dimension.

Shauna, would be the first to admit she can drift off but she's not entirely sure it's such a bad thing...
