Everyone embraced diversity and the spirit of the event strengthened community bonds. 大象传媒 Blast arts reporter Melvin Rao has more... On Sunday 10th August, hundreds of people descended on Hanley Park in Stoke-on-Trent to celebrate the听 2008 NORSACA Multicultural Community Festival. NORSACA (North Staffordshire Afro-Caribbean Association) are a local group that provide a range of educational and youth programmes plus projects for adults who wish to learn new skills and hobbies. The event was fuelled by live acts from all over the country; the highlight was a Bob Marley tribute band. They sang old classics such as 'Jammin', putting on a performance that even the great icon would be proud of. Battling MCsThe whole听park was crammed with funfair rides, stalls and barbeque grills while MCs were battling for the crowd's attention. Unity MCs got the crowd moving while DJ Bubbla's set saw dancers competing against each other and entertaining everyone with their choreography. Young and old alikeYoungsters indulged themselves with candy and ice cream whilst others just enjoyed the overall atmosphere and weather. People perfected their look by getting their hair braided at the 'on park salons' while the North Staffordshire Pensioners committee sold homemade jam.
