Once this comes out all the good Northern Soul venues we love will be packed out with young kids 'into the scene' and you won't be able to get near the floor, and if you do you'll be looked down at. It will be interesting to hear the sound track, I hope they don't water our music down by using contemporary bands like Duffy etc! It'll be interesting but I think it will ruin our scene a bit.

I was a Northern soul and Tamla Motown DJ in Lincolnshire during the time this movie is set in so i can't wait to see it

Tony G
I was never one for allowing anyone but true northern soul people to publicly show what our scene was about, the culture back in the early seventys from the beginnings in the sixtys at the wheel to the torch, mecca and Wigan can never be reproduced, you had to feel, hear and cry the time, I do still to this very day at age 52. I look forward to the film and god forbid they get it right.

I never lived through the northern soul era I was only six unfortunatly. I think the film will be fine if your a souly at heart you will relate and the fact that there are two irish men in the mix that say's it all Big up the tipp man & the dub. good luck with the release everybody!!!!

pat n wendy
hey the best years were the very early years, fantastic sounds and the dancing unbelievable as time went on the music lost a lot of its soul has it tried to get into mainstream pop

Aidan C. Sunderland
I think this will do harm to the scene.I agree about the age thing; in the 70's we were all 16-19 there were'nt any 40 year olds (but I can certainly understand people who were true wiganites wanting to be in it.I'm too bloody fat now, the floor would collapse if I did a back drop!It looks too synthetic and clean for wigan. They ought to do a cartoon version, it would look a lot better!Or maybe they could rotoscope Sandy Holt and make him look 17.Can't have Wigan without Ssndy, Jethro, Sparky and the other legends.Plus without an actual original northern sound track it won't work.Sorry to be so negative, it's just an incredibly difficult task to take on.My hats off to the crew.I hope that i'm wrong! Can't wait to see it.Aidan.

Chris
Anyone know the Release Date

Paul Stenson
They should have run the entire list of original Casino members in the credits at the end of the film (if that huge big book survived). We were so very lucky to have been a part of that era and the Casino story. If I had just one wish for this film, it would be for today's generation to be exposed to the Magic, the energy, the passion, of Northern Soul, and the wonderful people it attracts.

Keepingthefaith72
Lets hope it does the Northern soul scene ..justiceKtf....

hailey
it hasnt survived by staying under ground at all it has survived by parents teaching their children soul, by kids hearing it on tv and radio and by films and documentrys, i meen the good ones not like the paul o ggrady shambles of a "soul show"

John Almond
they had ago at making it mainstream way back in the 70s and it was a joke, keep it under ground. thats how its survived to this day.Saying that Im looking forward to the film

Erby
FantasticKeep on keeping the Faith

dave grimwood

steve chamberlain
looks very clean and tidy.not like the real wigan casino.and where are the feather cuts?ha,ha.

hailey
i think all the people in the film or atleast half (the true soulies not the dance school posh sods that looked down their noses at me) should meet up maybe in manchester etc and go and see the film together (thinks wed have to book a cinema room out lol)

Michelle Sterling

It's about time a film was made about the fantastic music and social scene of Northern Soul! Lets hope it will have the same effect on the young as Quadrophenia did all those years ago to get them into the great scootering scene!!

We came along to a few of the shoots and had a great time, everyone was happy, the music was fab and we also danced between the scenes along with everyone else. This is probably the only chance that I will ever have to go back to my youth and I loved every minute of it. Also it is due to come out on my 50th birthday - So happy birthday to me and every success with the film. Keep the faith. Lynn x

elmo
if you wanted great dancers why did you not look in the north west of england where it all started at the wheel. There was phil sawyer, foxy, tommy ball, just to name a few of the great dancers that where there. Useing young talented people is not always the answer, if anything like this is going to happen again i think you need to do some research, i have not seen the film as yet but i cant wait to do so. Northern Soul is my life.

Sue Ridgers
I came all the way from Basingstoke to be an extra in the film cant wait to see the film the extras were such a nice lot im sure we will meet up at a northern soul night take care xxxx

john reed
at long last, northern soul is starting to get its truly deserved recognition as being britains longest going music night scene ever. keep on keeping on!!!!!!!!!

Pam Sinclair

well said Carol...all the knockers out there should be ashamed of themselves, this film is the best thing to happen on the scene for a long time,be proud that Northern Soul is being used for the backdrop to this film,on a lighter note ..i went to manchester 2 weeks ago to beat boutique nite and broke my foot whilst dancing lmao ..KTF .

jodie morris age 26
i was an extra in the wigan csino scenes.. i ad an amazing day what an experience... love, live, dance, NORTHERN SOUL..

Jaxfilms
To Night Owl;Don't worry, a lot of young people were used in the film. However, for wider shots we were able to use some older Northern Soul fans who were also keen to be involved to build up the background. Funny how this filming lark works - the only important thing is how the final result looks on camera

not as good as the original will ever be, as i was there. and on the first tv documentry back in the70'sand i am still going at 56 honestly, the alnighters and weekenders so all i can say is keep it real please

NiNI
Geoff Oakes and co. were after the Wolves lot era- id say about at least a 2-3 years. THe WOlves lot had already set the pace and the moves of the classic dances that made Wigan stompers so unique!

Mark Oliver (Gloucester)
The film looks good and hopefully something that will truly recognise how wonderful life was for all who made the weekly visits up to the Casino in the 70's. I have some fantastic memories and great dancers, too many to list but from Stoke, you bet - Geoff Oakes, Atlas and joined by Dave Shaw from Wolverhampton (you don't always need to be able to spin on your head to be a great dancer) and what about Tim Ashibende, Neil Allen, Keith Minshull etc who used to supply so many of the local collectors in the record bar. You've picked a great city to film this as so many well respected soulies live or originate from the Stoke area. To name 2 - Butch (got to be in the top 3 of the all time nighter dee-jays - respect!) and if you dedicate this film to anyone - Dave Alcock RIP!

NiNI
Agree Nico Gethro, Kim Habbitts, Paul Darby were some of the best dancers ever at WIgan. Does anyone know what happened to themPS- Jacko was an old flame of mine for a while!! lol

lee derby soul club founder dj

looked at all the photos, but didnt see anyone we know, funny really as we travel up and down the country to most of the northern soul do,s me and the other half are throw backs from the 70,s wigan an all and have followed n/s for years but only got back on the scene 4 years ago at butlins, live near oldhill (regis hall where you are filmin). keep up the good work.

Nico
Hornet what are you on,everyone knows some of the best dancers were from the Wolverhampton area Jethro,Jacko and Paul Darby to name just a few.

Derek Gibbs
Well done!! Everything seems so authentic!! Cant wait till i see the film

soul girl
am a extra in souled out (managed to get into some main scenes aswell)im too young to hae gone to the torch and twisted wheel etc (im 17) at the fiklming i have made a brilliant friend im sure a friend for life. i think the film will be a good one but dont understand why they are not useing the songs we danced to, to do the filming.i am a " true soulie" love the scene and been on it since i was the tender age of 3 or 4 lol

Lizzie
To julie ALlenWhich 'crewe' did you hang out with?I was friendly with the wolves. stoke & blackwood crew/ Do you remember lez and babs friom Canncok? Is that your era -let me know and maybe we can chat!!

Slider
Well, I was too young to go to Wigan but old enough to have caught the tail end of it. I really hope that we can reach out to the youngsters with this film and hope that they love it and will want to be a part of our great scene or else we will be slidin' with our zimmers on the baby powder!

Pete Dyson {Manchester}

hornet
i remember wolverhampton council ferry, ing taxis from stoke 2 the laff every tuesday cuz their were no local dancers 2 fill the floors

Carol
I WAS an extra at the age of 51 !! I'm fed up of all this knocking the film. We have to remember this is NOT a documentary it's a fiction film about dancing and passion and love. When I went to the Torch in the 70's they did actually let people over the age of 20 on the floor! When making the film the director explained that the close up shots would be of the younger ones and they would use us mainly in background for our unrivaled dancing skills. I'm proud to have been part of it and to be able to leave a bit of history for my family. KTF (

Not an Extra
Hate to say this but the early days of the Casino didnt have any great dancers from Stoke - the best dancers were from Wolverhampton

Night Owl
Sorry but this looks well sad"Should of used original Wigan Casino footage for any dance moves. getting oldies on board wont work. This was a youth culture that was made up of 14-19 yr olds. Looks daft to me and think it will be a rubbish film
