The
Chapel at the Royal Hospital School, Holbrook
Originally founded at Greenwich in 1712 to educate the sons of seafarers
The Royal Hospital School moved to its present position in 1933. It
now occupies a 200-acre purpose-built site overlooking the River Stour.
It is a traditional HMC coeducational full boarding school with 690
boarders, aged 11-18, and continues to offer fee concessions to the
children and grandchildren of seafarers.
With a strong emphasis on academic work, there are also outstanding
opportunities for music and sports, in particular sailing. A thriving
Combined Cadet Force combines adventurous training and service to
the community.
There is a strong Christian ethos in the school and the magnificent
Chapel is the centre of school life.
