From Berlin To Auschwitz : Frank Bright's story

Holocaust Memorial Day (27 January) is the annual commemoration of the six million Jews who were killed by the Nazis during the Second World War.

The date co-incides with the anniversary of the liberation of the biggest concentration camp, Auschwitz-Birkenau in Poland, in 1945.

大象传媒 Suffolk has recorded a series of interviews with Frank Bright (b.7/10/1928).听 He's retired and living at Martlesham Heath near Ipswich where he spends a lot of his time volunteering at the Martlesham Heath Control Tower Museum on the former airbase site.

His story takes in the rise of the Nazis in 1930's Berlin, the family's flight to Czechoslovakia, their internment in a medieval ghetto town, their removal to the notorious concentration camp, the death of Frank's parents, his work as a slave labourer and finally his liberation and journey to London, Canada and Suffolk.听

You can read his story by clicking on the links below and find out more by using the links on the right-hand side of the page.
