He was an apprentice footballer at Colchester Utd which included travelling to New Zealand and Holland, but he has always returned to Suffolk! Mervin started began his radio career in 1992 with a small local radio station before moving onto Ipswich Community Radio a year later where he had his own radio show playing the reggae music, soca and R'n'B which he loves. For many years Mervin has organised music events based on African-Caribbean culture to meet the needs of the large Ipswich Caribbean community.听 Windrush, beauty shows, talent contests, dances and Music On The Park have helped unite the community. Mervin has written for the Reggae Trade and Vibes Magazine, highlighting events for African Caribbean music in his community, interviewing high profile music artists including Shaggy, Puff Daddy, Beenie Man, Morgan Heritage, Buju Banton Capleton and Luciana as well as championing local talent. He now co-presents on Ebony Eye.
