David Baalham

The man himself

David Baalham

David has been playing guitar since the age of 11. He has played for the Reverbs as lead guitarist, with Roach as rhythm and lead guitarist and more recently as part of the duos The Verbs and Damaged Goods.

After a lifetime of writing songs and never recording them and rarely playing them live ("most venues want covers") he has recorded his first solo album entitled "Any Day Now…", a long-time ambition.

This includes songs written during the 70's, to songs written during the recording of the album at Jim Rowbotham's Rectory Records studio at Little Glemham from October 2003 to January 2004.

He is more than ably supported by multi-instrumentalist Jim with Hannah Richardson on backing vocals. The emphasis is firmly on acoustic based music with occasional lush keyboards, electric guitar and percussion.

"'Don't Look At Me...' is a great song. The blend of acoustic and electric sounds really works well and suggests a Peter Frampton influence."

Mini Review

The songs are melodic and written and sung from the heart, based on personal experience, life and Felixstowe(!) and should appeal to anyone who appreciates a well written song.

Gigs are either performed solo or with the assistance of Jim and Hannah. A recent appearance on Stephen Foster's Drivetime show was well received with a further successful spot in February.

The CD was released in early February on Rectory Records with a CD launch gig at the Steamboat Tavern Ipswich on March 10th.
