It was in 1807 that the British Parliament outlawed the trade.

The most widely known anti-slavery campaigner is William Wilberforce, but it was an Ipswich campaigner who is cited as a major influence on him. Charlotte's mum Juliene is from Nigeria in west Africa - one of the countries that people were taken from before they ended up in the Caribbean or the USA where they were forced to work as slave labour. Let's not forget that slavery still exists in our modern world. We should all be seeking it's eradication.
I believe every race/country has a period in their historic developement thay can feel shamed by and this is one of the uk/usa's darkest hour. I am not to blame for my ancesters actions but think it very inportant to remember, educate and learn from past errors! CALLEN [The Voice]

Charlotte has put together an excellent piece. I think the statement at the start is open to debate but all in all a very good film. Well done.

Charlotte's Video Nation film is excellent. It holds the viewer's attention,is interesting and informative;she has achieved a very good balance between a personal perspective and factual information;I like the interview section at the Museum and her style. Also I like and agree with her comment about living in a society where the colour of skin is never an issue, not even on 'siily' beaurocratic forms! A high standard indeed and lots of good luck to Charlotte.
