Franco arrived in 1976 and he says there was still a demand for teddy boy haircuts when he started here. He grew up in Alife which is in the Campania region of Italy near Naples and Monte Cassino. With a lot of new arrivals in Suffolk, mainly from Portugal and Poland, there have been suggestions that English people are still very polite, but a bit hard to make friends with. So have we changed? The under 30s have become far more expressive with their emotions than older generations. There seems to be a theme of 'attention seeking' more these days probably in part fuelled by our binge drinking culture and obsession with celebrities, Suffolk/norfolk still retains that reservedness though.
