The 11-day trip travels around the Arctic island of Svalbard/Spitzbergen - north of Norway. Stephen's aim was to see all the Arctic sea birds which visit his home nature reserves in Suffolk such as guillemots and terns. Needless to say, he saw a lot more besides. Many of his fellow travellers went for the chance to see an eclipse of the sun - which was a great contrast because the Arctic has 24 hours of daylight at the time of year they went. Stephen's used his film to talk about the effect our lifestyles/energy consumption in the West has on the melting polar ice-cap. In turn, this is expected to cause the rising sea levels which threaten the East Anglian coast. We've already made Video Nation films about coastal erosion at Southwold and Bawdsey and you can watch these by clicking on the links on the right.
