Teacher Lewis understands the usefulness of music when engaging his pupils, and wishes to increase participation with his class of physically restricted young learners using musical instruments and digital tools.

Inspired by the song Be In The Band and his own guitar playing Lewis wants to start his own group by carrying out the following steps:

  • listen to the song on Play It!
  • allow each child to choose their own instrument
  • go round the group allowing every child to interact with their instrument
  • accompany each child
  • all play together

The video concludes with Lewis reflecting on the lesson accompanied with tips for you to get started.

Try the activities in the Be In The Band lesson plan.
