They had plenty of inspiration from the surroundings 鈥 the grounds of the 12th Century church of St Leonard鈥檚 in the village of Flamstead. The children were each issued with chalk and a blank sheet on a cardboard backing to simulate a pavement slab. Taking part in the national competition was the idea of the Flamstead Youth Parish Council.听 The money raised is being divided between the Council and to help children with Muscular Dystrophy. The youngsters on the Parish Council want to use their part of the money to put on a basketball day for local children.
