I'm a celebrity - vote for me!!

From eighties pop duo Dollar and 'I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here' - David Van Day now sets his sights on Westminster!

Reality TV star and former pop singer David Van Day visited Woburn in Bedfordshire today (Friday 29 May) as part of his bid to become an MP.

The 52-year-old, who was a member of the 80s pop duo Dollar, is launching the "No Expenses Party" in the wake of the scandal over MPs' claims.

His announcement follows the news that Esther Ranzen - another competitor in the same jungle reality show "I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here" - is considering standing at the next General Election.

Mr Van Day, who failed in a bid to be a Tory councillor in Brighton in 2007, says he is intending to face mid Bedfordshire Tory MP Nadine Dorries.

Ms Dorries is said to have used taxpayers' money to pay for a lost 拢2,190 deposit on a rented flat. She is also alleged to have claimed for a New Year's Eve hotel room and for a second home allowance while only having one home.

In interviews, divorced mother-of-three Dorries denied the allegations about the hotel room and the second home. She said she claimed for a second home in her constituency, but refused to reveal the location of her first home. She did admit the lost deposit claim.

Mr Van Day said he decided to stand because of Ms Dorries' "ridiculous" comments. His visit to Mid Bedfordshire will gauge support for his "No Expenses Party". If residents are positive he has said he will stand.

The singer told 大象传媒 Three Counties Radio in Woburn, that he's 95% likely to run for Government...

We asked the people of Mid Beds what they thought about David Van Day representing them in Westminster...

Have Your Say

What do you think? Do you think David Van Day should stand as an MP for Mid Beds? Would you vote for him?

Nadine is surely toast. But electing the Labour guy would make more sense than this himbo. That would be out of the frying pan and into the fire. Not having a main home is the major problem with Dorries, apart from her constant fibbing and attention-seeking.

Richard, Woburn
anyone has to be better than the current encumbant

martin cowen
He'd be fantastic MP - sadly I think it's time for Nadine to go...

Sarah, Barton
I can think of nothing worse than having this idiot represent me in Parliament.... even Nadine Dorries!!!
